Earlier this month, the California State Senate passed a bill prohibiting schools from notifying parents if their child wants to use a different name and pronoun at school. The passage of this secrecy bill not only usurps parental rights but also fosters an “us versus them” mentality, painting school officials as champions of students and parents as fuddy-duddy adversaries.
Assemblyman Jim Patterson (R-Fresno) spoke out against this bill saying:
“The state does not own our children. They have no business getting between parents and children, especially on something as potentially damaging as this…”
Patterson emphasized that parental involvement is crucial during times of uncertainty and questioning, and excluding parents could lead to harmful consequences for the children involved.
The truth is children need their parents every day of every month, all year long. They are needed to protect them from being sexually confused, groomed, or even recruited into believing deceptive philosophies. What we are seeing, once again, is the LGBTQIA agenda in government schools prevailing over the best interests of children. Tax dollars should not be used to support these wildly controversial and unpopular policies – policies designed to destroy the family unit.
This overreach must be rescinded. Not only does it undermine parental rights but it also endangers the well-being of our children by isolating them from the very people who love and care for them most. We must stand firm in defending parental rights against government bureaucrats and teachers who would violate the parent-child relationship. Parents have a God-given responsibility to guide and protect their children.
The bottom line is that parents matter.
