By Laurie Higgins   |   01.13.20

Christians, the Church, and the State
By Laurie Higgins   |   01.08.20
I’d like to offer a few words about the separation of church and state—a concept long abused by “progressives.” The religion clauses of the First Amendment were intended to protect religion from the intrusive power of the state, not the reverse. The Establishment Clause states that “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion.” That does not mean religious convictions are prohibited from informing political values and decisions...

Ethically Challenged Bioethicist Whines About Kentucky Abortion Law
By Laurie Higgins   |   12.17.19
Bioethicist Ruth Faden penned an irony-filled screed in which she whines about the Supreme Court’s refusal to hear a challenge to Kentucky’s Ultrasound Informed Consent Act (H.B. 2), which requires that prior to the killing of humans in the womb, a doctor or technician must perform an ultrasound and explain to mothers gestators what the ultrasound shows....

Pastor Doug Wilson: “Stop Groveling: Fight Like Hobbits”
By Laurie Higgins   |   11.27.19
Too many Christians falsely believe that the Bible teaches that we should always and in every context speak “nicely,” and by “nicely” they mean in ways that listeners don’t find objectionable. Too many Christians falsely believe that they are prohibited from being angry; or from using sarcasm, satire, or other strong language; or that they are prohibited from saying anything that offends people. Thankfully, we have Pastor Douglas Wilson to offer the church a much-needed corrective.
