There is a Biblical theology of charity for the poor, just as there is a Biblical theology of everything.
News Flash: Illinois Representative Dares to Define “Male” and “Female”
By Ecce Verum   |   09.19.24
Not long ago, I lamented the Massachusetts legislature's bill attempt to redefine the nature of parenting. Touted as a needed "tune-up" to "outdated norms" in current family law, the bill was written to carefully scrub out offensive, archaic words like "paternity" and replace them with innocuous, up-to-date terms like "parentage."
Biden Plan to “Help” Parents is a TRAP!
By Alex Newman   |   09.16.24
Under the guise of “helping” parents deal with stress, the Biden administration is plotting a dramatic expansion of government into the home. In short, federal authorities are seeking to take on even more responsibilities traditionally associated with the family while drugging ever larger numbers of Americans.
The White Rose Resistance: The Story of Sophie Scholl
By Alyssa Sonnenburg   |   09.14.24
“We are Christian and we are German. Therefore, we are responsible for Germany.” ~ Sophie Scholl In January of 1933, Hitler’s Third Reich rose to power in Germany. Being a good citizen of Germany, Sophie Scholl, along with her siblings, was excited to be a follower of the National Socialist cult of youth.
Why You Should Be a Full-Time Voter
By Ecce Verum   |   09.12.24
A huge block of Americans (about another third) voted intermittently, which means that elections can often be determined by the intermittent voters when they decide to show up. In my efforts to convince all the part-timer voters out there to level up, I dealt with the common argument that "my single vote doesn't matter."
Why You Should Not Be a Part-Time Voter

Pew Research recently published a report of U.S. voter turnout, observing that the last three national elections ('18, '20, and '22) displayed some of the highest turnout of the century.
Without a Conscience
By Rev. Thorin Anderson   |   08.30.24
Many years ago, a disguised Mafia “hitman” was interviewed on national TV. He was asked a variety of questions but the one that stood out in my mind was how he dealt with his conscience. His laconic response was, “What’s a conscience?”
Guns Are Now Bad For Your Health
By Ecce Verum   |   08.29.24
If you can bear it, mentally jump back a few years to the time when Covid hysteria reigned supreme. Recall the slogan we constantly heard—"Mask up and stay safe, everyone!" I may have been the only one, but I did find this word choice a little odd. Isn't "stay healthy" the appropriate thing to say during the onset of a disease?
Chicago Cleans Up Before Company Arrives
By Ecce Verum   |   08.17.24
hicago has found a convenient time to finally do something about a homeless encampment—one that city leadership has already allowed to exist for years. For several years, a narrow strip of land nestled next to the Dan Ryan Expressway and Roosevelt road has been home to a veritable "tent city," one which has boasted up to 20–30 residents at times. However, a couple months before the Democratic National Convention is set to commence in Chicago, the city decided to permanently shut down this settlement.
Unserious

The SHIELD Act (S.412) passed in the U.S. Senate in July. This bill would address image-based sexual abuse by establishing new laws to knowingly distribute sexually explicit content of an individual without their consent. It will also outlaw the distribution of pornographic images of minors that are intended to humiliate, harass, or degrade the minor. But, if S.412 passes the U.S. House and is signed into law, will it be enforced?

Leftist Attempts to Gut SCOTUS—Despite the U.S. Constitution
By Dr. Jerry Newcombe   |   07.31.24
Bad ideas can often get accepted long after they were initially rejected. One generation recoils at a proposal. The next generation might cozy up to it. And the one after that might accept it.
