IFI Worldview Conference: Recovering Biblical Manhood

If there was ever a time when Christians needed to seriously consider biblical teaching on what it means to live, love, and lead a family as a Christian man, it is now. As you know, our culture has denigrated, dismantled, and redefined gender roles, especially masculinity and patriarchy.

Yet God created men to protect our families, friends, and flocks, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. But do we understand that? Are we able to pass these truths on to our children? Moreover, as Dr. John Piper put it,

Men, do you have a moral vision for your families, a zeal for the house of the Lord, a magnificent commitment to the advancement of the kingdom, an articulate dream for the mission of the church and a tenderhearted tenacity to make it real?

And to paraphrase his next line, you cannot lead a godly family without this.

Sinful thinking is a culturally systemic problem that is only getting more pronounced the further we drift away from God. We have to understand that the best course of action is to focus on living as God wants us to live. This requires that we die to self, our selfish ambitions, and worldliness and let the Holy Spirit work through us. We do this by immersing ourselves in God’s Word and striving to better understand His perfect will and His purpose for our lives. (Romans 12:2)

That is why the Illinois Family Institute focuses on the raging battles over biblical truth at our annual Worldview Conferences. This year, our focus is the Christian belief that God made man and woman in His image and likeness with specific roles and tasks.

Male and female are equally of infinite value, yet they are also distinct and complementary. Man is inadequate by himself. That is why God instituted marriage to complete him and create unity between a husband and a wife; sex is a fruit of this unifying bond and through it, we procreate. Life is a gift from God.

Please join us for this crucial conference on March 2nd at the Village Church of Barrington. This year we are featuring three well-respected and fearless Christian leaders who will help us better understand and respond to a culture that wants to redefine reality, including what it means to be a man and what it means to be a woman. You do not want to miss this special event with Nancy PearceyDr. Scott Lively, and Pastor Myles Holmes!

Summit Ministries defines worldview as “a pattern of ideas, beliefs, convictions, and habits that help us make sense of God, the world, and our relationship to God and the world.” Ligonier Ministries defines worldview as:

A person’s worldview represents his most fundamental beliefs and assumptions about the universe he inhabits. It reflects how he would answer all the “big questions” of human existence: fundamental questions about who and what we are, where we came from, why we’re here, where (if anywhere) we’re headed, the meaning and purpose of life, the nature of the afterlife, and what counts as a good life here and now.

Everyone has a worldview. But sadly, many Christians have a flawed one that falls short of God’s perfect standard. It is tragic to see how the incoherent ideology of humanism has captured the hearts and minds of many Americans and is destroying lives and families. Far too many Christians are ill-informed or misinformed on the issues of the day and consequently are buying the destructive lies the culture is selling.

We must work to correct our thinking and align it to the Word of God. It is vital that we intentionally pursue worldview training for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren.

Please join us to become better informed and learn how we should respond.
