As we have noted in the past, America is in the midst of a fertility crisis.
According to statistics, the average family in the United States in 1900 had 3.56 children, well over the replacement rate. In 2000, 100 years later, this number dropped to 2.05 children per family– barely at the replacement rate.
Currently (2020), the fertility rate is 1.64 children per family with 2025 projections set to have this number drop again for 2025 to 1.62 children– all below replacement rate.
This is indeed a crisis.
Societies cannot be stable without the main component that makes up a society– people.
America is not the only country facing this issue either. Countries like Russia have “Conception Day,” a national holiday designed for what it says–conception.
Other countries such as Finland, Japan, Australia, South Korea, Poland, and France have all implemented policies to reward families when they have more children.
