Pro-abortion activists are working hard to defeat this legislation.

Last month we alerted IFI subscribers to the introduction of a very important pro-life bill known as the Ultrasound Opportunity Act (HB 4085) by State Represenative Joe Lyons (D-Chicago).  This proposal simply requires that a woman considering an abortion be offered the opportunity to view the ultrasound imaging of her unborn child.  It is her choice whether to see it or not.

The Illinois House is in session this week through Friday before going on a two-week Spring break.  We need your help this week in generating grass-roots pressure in favor of this important proposal.  Opponents of the bill are desperate to derail the bill.

Take ACTION: Click HERE to send an email or a fax to your state representative to ask him/her to support HB 4085. Informed consent for women in a crisis pregnancy is vital. HB 4085 is a reasonable reform that offers Illinois women true choice.

Pro-life lawmakers are telling our lobbyists that opponents are sending faxes and emails urging them to vote NO on HB 4085.   These legislators are urging the pro-life community to counter those efforts with calls and emails of their own.  “Sometimes, we think that since our legislator is pro-life we don’t have to contact him/her or we don’t want to bother them and their secretaries,” said IFI Lobbyist Ralph Rivera.   “In this case, they are telling us  ‘Please Bother Us!’

More people are becoming pro-life every day because modern technology, like ultrasounds, allow us to see what couldn’t be seen thirty years ago when abortion was determined to be legal.  The abortion industry fears that a woman might see the unborn for what they are and make a different choice, which means less money in the industries coffers, and that is exactly what the opposition to this bill is about.

You can also call the Springfield switchboard at (217) 782-2000 and speak to your local representative’s administrative aide about this legislation.
