Earlier this month, Americans United for Life (AUL) published its annual report ranking states based on how well they protect women and pre-born children from abortion. The report categorizes states as either most supportive of pro-life policies or most inclined towards pro-abortion legislation. The states that protect life through all nine months are:
Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, and West Virginia.
Georgia and South Carolina have “heartbeat laws,” which means that a pre-born baby is safe after a heartbeat can be detected, or once it has reached 6 weeks of gestational age. AUL reports that since the Dobbs ruling came down, we have seen a “2.3% increase in birth rates in pro-life states, equating to approximately 32,000 births.”
We can celebrate this good news while recognizing that here in Illinois we have much work to do. Please consider joining us at the next SpeakOut Illinois pro-life conference on March 16th in Oak Brook Terrace to network with other pro-life activists, learn about the various groups working in the state, and find new opportunities to uphold the sanctity of human life. Abortion and racism are both symptoms of
a fundamental human error. The error is
thinking that when someone stands in the way
of our wants, we can justify getting that person out of our lives.
Abortion and racism stem from the same poisonous root, selfishness.
