Planned Parenthood Regained Funding on July 4th

This past weekend, we celebrated America’s 250th birthday.

Two-hundred fifty years of God’s providence over our nation. Our Founders understood the high cost of freedom. They also understood that the most basic human right in existence is the right to life. After all, it was Thomas Jefferson who famously penned the opening lines of the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Notice the order: Life is listed first, then liberty, and then happiness.

In addition to this, in his 1774 work, A Summary of View of the Rights of British America, in which Jefferson argued for the English rights of the American colonies, he wrote:

“The God who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time.”

You cannot have true liberty without life, and you cannot have true life without liberty. Our Founders understood that both gifts were inextricably intertwined.

On July 4th, 2025, President Trump signed his “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” in which a one-year prohibition period was set for Planned Parenthood receiving any type of Medicaid funding.

In effect, this bill “defunded” Planned Parenthood from tax-payers funding the abortion giant.

Planned Parenthood was, of course, devastated by this massive loss of funds:

“This sweeping piece of legislation defunded Planned Parenthood, and significantly cut federal Medicaid funding, making it more difficult for millions of Americans to access affordable health care.”

I probably don’t need to tell you that abortion is not health care – it is the brutal murder and dismemberment of preborn babies made in the image of God.

While this defunding was a win for our tax-payer dollars and the overall message that we, collectively, will not be funding abortion as “health care,” we all knew that this was temporary.

This past July 4th, this prohibition period ended, and though Congress was called upon to act, they didn’t.

We must permanently defund Planned Parenthood from receiving any amount of tax-payer money.
