It was a tough week last week, but we’re going to look at it as a glass half-full. There were two dozen terrible bills up in committee this week (and when I say terrible, I mean on a scale of one to 10, most were probably a 9 or 10). Seven of the bills got out of committee; the rest were held. That’s good news. Sent back to the Rules Committee are 13 bills, including the bill that would allow abortion providers to operate inside birth centers, allow minors to obtain birth control with zero parental involvement, and provide for live election ballots to be mailed to everyone.
The bills that passed are on their way to the full House chamber for debate and a vote, such as a big expansion of DCFS authority to spread LGBTQ propaganda among kids already having problems in the system, pushing mental health into public schools’ health classes, and allowing someone to put X on their driver’s license instead of male or female. And we wonder why kids are confused.
Going with the glass half-full analogy, these bills still have to survive a floor debate, and most importantly they have to survive the Senate. These bills did have great opposition in witness slips thanks to IFI supporters so the full House will see the opposition. And the Senate half the time does not allow controversial bills to be heard in committee. But half the time they do, so we’ve got our work cut out for us.
Below are the 7 bills (2 of which are new) that did pass committee and we are working against. (A few good bills we were supporting did not pass committee either; these were sponsored by Republicans as well as Democrats.)
Both the House and Senate have adjourned for Easter. The House comes back two days after Easter (April 7) and the Senate comes back a week later. When the House comes back, they will be debating these bills on the floor.
Up till then may God bless our efforts, and we thank God for His many blessings – the most important blessing of dying on the cross for our sins and resurrecting to eternal glory so that we may share in it.

HB 4862 – School Staff Mental Health (Janet Yang Rohr D-Naperville): IFI OPPOSES
Requires districts to create staff mental health programs, committees, and policies. Includes ongoing assessments, training, and reporting. If school curriculum teaches children that homosexuality is normal and that students can marry or become a male or a female, one can safely assume that teacher and staff mental health assessments will be based on the same lies.
