When Wicked Becomes Wicked
It’s the start of a new year and you know what THAT means! Two things: worthless resolutions and a bevy of awards shows on television. The first of those shows is coming up Sunday, January 12th. It’s billed as The 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards. Hosting the big night will be Chelsea Handler. It will broadcast live on E!
Advancing Christian Education Nationwide
By Alyssa Sonnenburg   |   01.03.25
The failure of the public school system is no secret, which causes many Christian families to wisely opt out of public school. Still, all parents desire their children to receive quality education, with high academic excellence being one of the goals and main tenets, along with biblical teaching.
The Lie of Anti-Culture
By Ecce Verum   |   12.30.24
In our last couple articles, we examined two car commercials which both came out recently. Jaguar's ad was one of the most grotesque I've seen, but Volvo's was one of the most beautiful. Take a look at those last two articles for a detailed analysis of each ad, as well as my commentary on how dangerous it is to glorify the abnormal, and how refreshing it is to glorify the normal. After all, we all live in the "normal world" created by God.
A Righteous Response to “Deny. Defend. Depose.”
Word of the year candidates for 2024 included “Polarization"—Merriam-Webster’s choice. Dictionary.com opted for “demure.” They both had their reasons. My personal choice would be “comeback,” recognizing the remarkable reemergence of a political “has been” and his party winning both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
The Blessing of Being Normal
By Ecce Verum   |   12.26.24
Last time, we examined a shocking ad recently put out by Jaguar, the luxury car manufacturer. An ad which glorifies the abnormal and urges viewers to "delete ordinary" and "copy nothing."
Being Gay on Mars
By Ecce Verum   |   12.23.24
Jaguar, the British luxury vehicle manufacturer, recently released an unsettling 30-second advertisement. For a creepy half-minute, a group of more-or-less androgynous characters in idiosyncratic costumes and hairstyles exit a yellow elevator and take up various unsmiling poses in front of the camera. They eventually congregate by a boulder in the middle of a pink-tinted desert landscape to stare uncomfortably into your soul.
How in the World Did We Get Here?
His/Her name is Drew Stever. She holds a position as a female minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Drew is a transvestite who identifies as a man. I’m fairly confident she has found much support within her denomination, which is headquartered in Chicago.
Seven Weeks Coffee: An Amazing Christmas Offer
By Alyssa Sonnenburg   |   12.19.24
Seven Weeks Coffee is not just a coffee company–they are an effort that is whole-heartedly dedicated to the pro-life cause. In fact, Seven Weeks gets its name from the adorable fact that at seven weeks gestation, a baby is the same size as a coffee bean.
Self Evident: And On The Sabbath He Rested
By Alyssa Sonnenburg   |   12.18.24
"The rich young ruler rejected the greatest thing that could ever be offered to anyone– a Lordship relationship with Jesus Christ." In this special episode, Jenna and Alyssa sit down with Pastor Ceasar LeFlore to discuss the chaos of the culture from a biblical perspective. More specifically, Pastor LeFlore will address why Sabbath rest is not only relevant to Christians today, but necessary.
Kids Need Loving Wisdom, not Affirmation
By Alyssa Sonnenburg   |   12.16.24
The recent Supreme Court case, United States vs. Skrmetti, has become one of the biggest cases in America for minor children’s access to transgender treatments. This case is a result of the federal government’s lawsuit against the state of Tennessee for Senate Bill 1, which
Snowflake Babies and Adoption
By Alyssa Sonnenburg   |   12.13.24
Adoption is beautiful. Adoption seeks to heal and restore a broken family situation for a child who desperately needs love, care, and support. In addition to adoption being a beautiful restoration of a broken family situation, it is the language God uses when describing His relationship with His people.
Parents’ Rights Toolkit
By Thomas Hampson   |   12.12.24
A little over a week ago, America First Legal (AFL) released its “Parents Rights Toolkit” to help parents of children in public schools protect themselves and their children from the so-called experts who run our schools.
Thankfulness and Serious Concerns
By Rev. Calvin Lindstrom   |   12.12.24
In his book, History of the Plymouth Settlement, William Bradford wrote about the departure of the Pilgrims from Leyden, Holland. Of course, they would be called “the Pilgrims” only many years later.
The 2024 Elections Didn’t End the Culture Wars
By Oliver Perry   |   12.07.24
Donald Trump won the 2024 election for president. But that doesn’t mean things are all right, and that we can collectively go back to sleep. Consider these issues:
War as Entertainment
Tomorrow will be the annual recognition of Pearl Harbor Day. It seems like the more that time separates us from the horrific events of that day, the less significant is the place it holds in our memories. December 7th, 1941, was ten years before I was born. So my early school years included rather fresh tributes and recollections.
