While the depravity of our culture today should not surprise us, we were horrified to learn that more than a few people are excusing the wickedness of the recent cold-blooded, cowardly murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City.

Even worse, online activists not only started Go-Fund-Me campaigns for the assassin’s defense (the platform eventually removed these pages), but they also justified this with their own anti-capitalist views and personal grievances about the corrupt health insurance bureaucracy.

Perhaps most shocking was the news of how the McDonald’s employee who tipped off police about the suspect received violent threats and abusive comments on social media platforms. Some reportedly called the tipster a “rat” and a “snitch,” while others vowed to boycott McDonald’s in solidarity with the killer.

This reaction only highlights how the alarming decline of a biblical worldview among Americans has fostered widespread moral ambiguity and relativism. It not only means a large segment of the population will justify murder but also nurtures the denial of the sanctity of human life and the rejection of biological reality of male and female.

It cultivates a willing disregard for the consequences of public policies that promote liberal, “comprehensive” sex education to children and so-called “recreational” drug use. It also allows for the myriad of ramifications of open borders.

The desperate need for biblical truth in the public square is needed now more than ever before in our state and nation. We need your financial support to continue doing this work as we head into 2025.

Unless Christians engage the culture with biblical truth, compassion, and reason, the radicalism we see today will inevitably “progress” – meaning our culture will devolve even further into darkness.

If we want our children and grandchildren to grow up in a place where they can be healthy and safe in body, mind, and spirit, we must be serious about our call to “be the salt and light of the earth” (Matt 5:13-20).

We have to understand that without our Christian influence, evil will prevail (Rom 12:21). If no one champions biblical principles, lies, hate, violence, murder, sexual immorality, and other types of wickedness will multiply.

IFI’s mission to educate, encourage, and mobilize Christians in the Land of Lincoln, now and in the future, is vital. The work we do to simply return to sanity is very difficult, very counter-cultural, and very urgent.

The prophet Hosea warned, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge … because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children” (Hos 4:6). The prophet was speaking about Israel, but the principle hasn’t changed.

If God’s people are ignorant of His laws, precepts, and commandments–if we disregard what is good, pure, noble, and true–then we cannot expect His blessings. Nor can we expect to be a positive influence on the culture.

The IFI Team takes seriously God’s command to love our neighbors as ourselves, which requires first knowing what is true and good (Matt 22:37-39). Far too many Americans are suffering because, as a country, we have lost that biblical worldview that made our nation prosperous and free.

Please join us in this spiritual, political, and cultural battle. There is no better time than right now. If you join us by contributing during the month of December, your gift will go twice as far, helping us reach our $133,000 goal!

The IFI Team deeply appreciates your prayers, encouragement, and financial support in our mission to “boldly bring a biblical perspective to public policy” in Illinois.
