Stopping Teens From Leaving the Faith

This year’s Worldview Conference features Dr. George Barna, Rev. Ceasar LeFlore, and Dr. Mark Zumhagen, M.D.

If you have teens or young adults, you will not want to miss this event.

Our theme is rebuilding a Biblical worldview in today’s Babylonian culture. A Biblical worldview is essential for understanding the times we live in — and for standing firm against the ungodly ideas constantly competing for our hearts and minds.

Perhaps more than ever, we are being steadily pulled away from God. The relentless pace of life crowds out time in His Word and weakens our communion with Him — and the effects are showing up in our homes.

Too often, the heartbreaking result is watching our teens and young adults drift from the church.

This conference is about equipping families to stand firm, think clearly, and live faithfully in a culture that is doing everything it can to pull them away.

If you have a child or grandchild who has walked away from the faith — or one you are praying will remain grounded in it — this event is especially for you. There is nothing more important than their eternal salvation, and parents should do everything they can to cultivate a deep and lasting love for Jesus in their hearts.

Of course, faith is never guaranteed. But research from Dr. George Barna shows that the likelihood of remaining committed to Christ rises dramatically when young people are grounded in seven foundational truths that form a Biblical worldview.

His research reveals that individuals who embrace all seven core beliefs have an 83% likelihood of developing and maintaining a solid Biblical worldview. Reject just one of them, and that probability drops to only 2%.

These truths are not optional. They are foundational — and they are critically important for the spiritual future of our children.

7 Basic Beliefs That Form the Foundation of a Biblical Worldview

1.) A Biblical understanding of God. Believing that God exists; that He’s all-knowing, that He’s all powerful, loving, just, and merciful. And He wants to be involved in your life.

2.) All human beings are born with a sinful nature. This sin nature has dramatic consequences in your life. Every choice you make has a moral consequence.

3.) The antidote to our sin problem is Jesus Christ. Knowing and trusting Jesus is the only means to salvation through your confession of sin and your reliance on His mercy and forgiveness. He died a horrible death solely because He loves you and wants to save you from the punishment due your sin nature.

4.) Recognizing there is absolute moral truth. The entire Bible is true, reliable, and relevant, making it the best moral guide for every person in every situation.

5.) Absolute moral truth is only found in the Bible. These moral truths are defined by God, described in the Bible, and are unchanging across time and cultures. These truths are the only thing that can set you free from the world’s distractions and your sin.

6.) God has given to each one of us a purpose. Other than the concise purpose and gifts God gives to each of us individually, His ultimate purpose is for us to know and love Him, and to serve Him with all of our heart, strength, mind, and soul.

7.) Our success in life is contingent upon our obedience to God. In our thoughts (2 Cor. 10:5), our words (Luke 6:45), and our actions (Col. 3:23).

Barna recognizes that these 7 are not the totality of developing a Biblical worldview in ourselves and our children, but he says, “It puts you on the road in a great way!”

God is standing at the door of our heart, waiting for us to open it for Him. God wants nothing more than to be in intimate fellowship with us.
