Rev. Robert A. Sirico is the president and co-founder of the Acton Institute and the pastor at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Grand Rapids, Mich. A regular writer and commentator on religious, political, economic, and social issues, Rev. Sirico’s contributions have been carried by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, the Washington Times, CNN, ABC, CBS, NPR, and the BBC, among others. In his popular book, Defending the Free Market: The Moral Case for a Free Economy, Rev. Sirico shows how a free economy is not only the best way to meet society’s material needs but also the surest protection of human dignity against government encroachment. Rev. Sirico holds dual Italian and American citizenship.

About the Acton Institute

“Liberty,” wrote Lord Acton “is not the power of doing what we like, but the right to do what we ought.” In 1990, a priest from Brooklyn and a young businessman from Seattle set out to promote this idea by establishing a small think tank in Grand Rapids, Mich. Since then, the Acton Institute has become one of the world’s most respected voices on individual liberty, human dignity, free enterprise, and limited government. By connecting these elements to the insights of the Judeo-Christian tradition, our work incisively explores central questions of man, society, and culture. Through a broad slate of lectures, conferences, publications, documentaries, and DVD curricula, Acton impacts tens of millions each year with its trademark synthesis of faith and freedom. We are thankful to God and to our supporters for all we have accomplished, and look forward to extending this outreach in the years to come.
