At the IFI Faith, Family, & Freedom banquet two weeks ago, we introduced our attendees to Pastor Courtney Lewis of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood. Pastor Lewis received the Voice of Truth Award because he models the courage to teach, promote, and speak of God’s moral law in today’s culture. (Watch our short video HERE.)

Pastor Lewis and his members decided they would no longer stand by idly and watch the government schools indoctrinate the children that God entrusted to them.

“The Lord confirmed upon my heart and the hearts of our members the need for a strong Christian school in the city of Chicago (Hyde Park/Woodlawn area). It is no secret that our government school system has failed and continues to fail our youth educationally and morally. Government education has undone the very biblical foundation that we, parents, and the church community at large, have worked so diligently to invest in our children. This has produced ill-prepared youth that are the supposed to be the future leaders of this country.

We have given our children to secularists. Our children need to be taught the multiplication tables AND the fear of the Lord. We need to teach them geography AND how to get to heaven. The more secular knowledge our children acquire, the more they need to be taught the fear of the Lord.”

As a result, Cornerstone Baptist Academy was established this past summer in three short months!

Their goal is to raise $65,000 and IFI is committed to helping them, and know that good Christians throughout the state and nation will step up to bless Pastor Lewis’ efforts. We are confident that Cornerstone Baptist Academy will be a leading Christian-based academy in the Chicago area.

The funds will be used in the following ways:

1.) A new HVAC system in the gym

2.) Space repurposing to add more classrooms

3.) Painting the facility

4.) Repurposing basement space for classrooms/lunchroom
