Katie’s Story: Purpose and Hope
Written By Alyssa Sonnenburg   |   08.29.24

“I do wish that I had the teenage life everybody so dreams about.”

When Katie found out she was 5 months pregnant at only 15 years old, she was terrified.

“I came from a family that were very strict Catholics… I was very nervous about school… I was not ready to become a parent.”

Even though Katie was overwhelmed by the future, she never once considered abortion as an option. Eventually, Katie visited The Family Life Center located in Effingham, Illinois.

Through the caring staff at the center, Katie found support and hope for her motherhood journey.

“I don’t think that I would be the parent I am today without the help of The Family Life Center.”

Contrary to the prevailing narrative of our culture, Katie’s choice for her daughter’s life has given her direction and purpose.
