PETA Rewrites the Bible

PETA Rewrites the Bible

In perhaps the most ridiculous use of Artificial Intelligence thus far, the P.E.T.A. organization (People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals) has decided to do a “Vegan Rewrite” of the Biblical book of Genesis.

While this may seem like satire, I assure you this is not a “Babylon Bee” article.

A “news release” recently issued by PETA states,

In “THE BOOK: PETA’s Version of the Creation Story”, animals are referred to as “beings” rather than “beasts” or “creatures”—and plant fibers, like hemp and bamboo, are used in place of animal skins for clothing, as no one with any fashion or moral sense would wear animal skins in the 21st century.

Among other new interpretations, in Genesis Chapter 22, Abraham travels to the land of Moriah and befriends a gentle lamb to show his reverence and respect for God’s creation, rather than slaughtering a ram to demonstrate his faith—much as human sacrifice, once a reality, is now outlawed all over the world.

One wonders if even the AI ChatBot was rolling its eyes as it wrote what its PETA masters commanded. Yet, this God-defying, creature-elevating filth is actually for sale on the PETA website for $3.99! As asinine as such garbage is, people will still buy it thinking it is cute.

But what this group has done is deadly serious.

They are living out Romans 1:21-23,

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.”

Is there a more obvious example of this than attempting to rewrite God’s Word in such a way?

Though it may seem to some to be just a silly take on the Bible, what PETA has done is actually nefarious and sinister.

There is a reason for the ram’s sacrifice on Mt. Moriah – that ram took Isaac’s place on the altar, and it pointed forward to a Greater Sacrifice which Christ Himself would make in dying on the Cross for the sin of the world.

PETA hates what the Bible says about sacrifice because they hate God.

They hate God’s Word. In the edited passage above, PETA suppresses the truth that the wages of sin is death, and instead, they magnify the creature above the Creator. Don’t think that this is done in ignorance either – they know exactly what they are doing. The article continues:

Another revised passage is in Chapter 21, when Abraham and Sarah—who, according to the original Bible, were 100 and 90 years old, respectively, when they conceived their child, Isaac—add to their growing family by adopting a dog named Herbie.

“As they walked with Herbie, Sarah and Abraham thought of the importance of adopting dogs from shelters and rescue organizations rather than purchasing them from breeders,” PETA’s version reads. “They spoke of how buying a dog or cat from a breeder or a pet shop contributes to the companion animal overpopulation crisis, as countless dogs and cats in shelters await loving homes while breeders continue to produce more puppies and kittens for profit.”

PETA should repent of taking these liberties with the Word of God. The Bible needs no such revision. PETA President Ingrid Newkirk thinks otherwise. She says,

“It took God only six days to create the entire world, but we realized it would take us years to rewrite the whole Bible, which is why we’ve started with just the first book.”

They have plans to continue their abomination, but Revelation 22:18-20 gives a stern warning to those who do what Ms. Newkirk has done,

I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.”

Oh Lord have mercy on this wicked and adulterous generation. Help us to trust in your Word!

Friends, God’s Word is already perfect as it is. It needs no revision and no editing. Don’t fall for PETA’s evil deception, rather trust in the infallible, inerrant, and authoritative Word. It is all we need for life and godliness. Psalm 19:7-8 tells us,

The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.”
