Illinois Family Institute wants to encourage Christians everywhere to prayerfully consider taking part in the upcoming peaceful campaign known as 40 Days for Life. It is an important pro-life effort to save lives and share truth. By partnering with 40 Days for Life we can live out Ephesians 6:13-18: “your feet shod with the
preparation of the gospel of peace…. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”

The mission of the campaign is to have Christians praying in one-hour time slots during a focused 40-day campaign of prayer and fasting for repentance and to seek God’s favor in turning hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life. It is a tremendous opportunity to pray for mothers who are experiencing crisis pregnancies as well as for those working in abortion facilities. It is an incredible opportunity for the church to be a visible witness for the sanctity of life while peacefully praying for the end of abortion and the closing of death mills.

There are opportunities for faithful Christians to pray in one-hour shifts, while silently witnessing for the sanctity of human life in Belleville, Bloominton, Champaign, Flossmoor, Chicago, Downers Grove, Granite City, Wood Dale, Peoria and Aurora. This year’s campaign runs from Sept. 25th thru Nov. 3rd.

Jim Nicodem, senior pastor of Christ Community Church in St. Charles, recently spoke about mobilizing Christians for these prayer vigils at a recent church leaders’ luncheon. His knowledge and experience is enormously  helpful. Please watch him here:

Committing to one (or more) hours a week to be a witness for the sanctify of life is not difficult. More importantly, we know that there is power in prayer. And there is even greater power when we gather with fellow Christians in prayer.
