More Blood Money for Cook County

Cook County is the most populous county in Illinois and the second largest county in the entire United States. Sometimes called Crook County, this county shapes much of the direction of our state because of its massive size advantage compared to the other 101 counties in Illinois. It is five times larger than DuPage, the second largest county, and has a population of approximately 5 million people.

There are seventeen elected commissioners who set the budget and determine how they will spend the $9.89 billion dollars of your tax money. Bridget Degnen, one of the commissioners, wants to amend the budget to provide an additional $2 million dollars to see more preborn children killed in Cook County. Yes, the county that sees more abortions by far than any other county wants to see more babies killed. The Chicago Tribune reports that in 2020, 63 percent of all Illinois abortions were from Cook County.

Degnen wants your hard-earned tax dollars to provide “help” for hotel stays, travel, and medical bills for women seeking to kill their unborn babies. All of this is covered under the guile of women’s reproductive freedoms. The extra money to kill babies is justified because of the supposed terror sweeping across the country of who believe their rights could be further eroded. This is according to a recent article by Kristen Schorsch of WBEZ. Degnen is supported in her ghoulish quest by fellow commissioner, Donna Miller, who wants other counties in Illinois to follow the lead of bloody Cook.

Very sadly, Illinois is the capital for abortion tourism according to the Guttmacher Institute. One of the groups hoping for this blood money is the Chicago Abortion Fund, which receives about $5 million from the state and wants more. Of course, Governor J. B. Pritzker boasts about all his efforts to make Illinois a center for death, and Pritzker is hardly alone in his support. As reported by Schorsch, Degnen says the majority of commissioners support her amendment.

It might feel like we are facing a no-win battle here in Illinois. However, we must be in prayer; we must make our voices heard on this issue. Please take immediate action as the board is set to vote on the budget and amendments by November 21.

TAKE ACTION: Please call, email or visit your local Cook County Commissioner to urge them to stop spending tax resources on the destruction of preborn human beings. (If you live in Cook County, please click HERE to look up your local Commissioner.)
