The Trump Administration has been transparent in its desire to allow abortion access through the abortion pill, mifepristone.

However, pressure against this decision has been mounting due to the alarming realities that have been found in numerous reports.

One such report, published by the Charlotte Lozier Institute which analyzed data from Medicare and Medicaid, revealed the following information:

  • Abortions caused by the abortion pill, mifepristone, represented 63% of all abortions in the United States in the year 2023.
  • “Women are consistently advised to conceal their recent abortion when visiting the Emergency Department (ED).”

In addition to this, the report revealed shocking findings regarding the mislabeling of abortions.

The study analyzed 28,534 emergency room visits. Between the five year period of 2016-2021:

  • surgical abortions being mislabeled as miscarriages increased from 26.8% to 73.9% and
  • mifepristone abortions being mislabeled as miscarriages increased from 45.5% to 83.5%.

These statistics are absolutely shocking!

It must also be plainly stated: miscarriages and abortions are not the same.

A miscarriage is the devastating, unintentional loss of a baby while an abortion is the intentional murder, dismemberment, and poisoning of a baby. Likening these two does extreme emotional damage to women who have tragically experienced the loss of a baby.

Labeling an abortion as a miscarriage is not only scientifically and medically inaccurate, it is emotionally damaging.

Dr. James Studnicki, one of the authors of the study, told The Washington Stand,

“When abortion-related emergencies are disguised as miscarriages, it impairs a doctor’s ability to make informed, evidence-based decisions. That isn’t just a documentation error — it’s a public health crisis…

The abortion industry’s push for concealment is unethical and dangerous. Women deserve honest guidance and proper medical care, not advice that jeopardizes their health.”

As Dr. Studnicki notes, this report reveals the dangerous nature of the abortion pill, which abortion care providers and the FDA have tried to hide.

While Planned Parenthood falsely claims that “Medication abortion is… safer than… Tylenol,” the facts speak for themselves.

Americans United for Life notes the following statistics regarding mifepristone:

“In a study of 42,619 Finnish women receiving chemical abortions up to nine weeks gestational age, the overall adverse events were fourfold higher in chemical (20.0%) versus surgical abortions (5.6%). Women hemorrhaged more commonly after chemical abortion (15.6% compared with 2.1%). They also had incomplete abortions more often in chemical abortions (6.7% versus 1.6%). The rate of surgical (re)evacuation was higher after chemical abortions (5.9%) than surgical abortions (1.8%).”

In addition to this, a study conducted by the Ethics and Public Policy Center revealed that the abortion pill was 22 times more dangerous than the FDA admitted.

Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, commented on the findings of the study:

“The abortion pill is not medicine. It is a lethal drug that kills an innocent child and endangers her mother. The FDA has abandoned its duty to protect women and children, fast-tracking mifepristone through lies and stripping away even the most basic safety measures.

This is not healthcare. It is reckless, it is violent, and it must end. Mifepristone should not merely be regulated — it must be pulled from the market and banned outright.”

Every abortion is a human rights violation as it murders a unique human being, a son or a daughter, made in the image of God (Gen. 1:27).

The abortion pill further promotes the slaughter of children and directly harms the women who partake of this drug.

We must fight to abolish abortion and one of the ways we can work toward this goal is through abolishing all access to mifepristone.
