Under the Biden Administration, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) removed the requirement for in-person dispensing of the abortion drug, mifepristone.
Unsurprisingly, data is corroborating what Christians and conservatives have been saying for years: the abortion drug is not safe and never will be safe for women.
According to U.S. Representative Diana Harshbarger,
“As a pharmacist, I believe every drug approved in the United States must meet the highest standards of safety, transparency, and medical oversight. Yet the FDA under previous administrations has steadily dismantled critical safety safeguards surrounding the abortion drug mifepristone — removing in-person dispensing requirements, allowing the drug to be shipped through the mail, and limiting adverse-event reporting so that most serious complications are no longer tracked.
Evidence now suggests that the real-world risks to women are far greater than the federal government has acknowledged.”
One recent study found that nearly 11% of women who use mifepristone experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, an emergency room visit, or another serious adverse event within 45 days. New data indicates that complications have increased since safety measures have been removed.
Affirming the new data, the Ethics and Public Policy Center reports,
“Data reveals that the rate of serious adverse events following a chemical abortion (mifepristone) was significantly higher after the FDA’s in-person dispensing requirement was removed.
That is especially true of the incidence of mifepristone being inappropriately prescribed for women with an ectopic pregnancy, a life-threatening condition that can be diagnosed by a physician only in an in-person visit.”
The drug, mifepristone, contains a long history of negative adverse events following consumption including:
- Cold sweats
- Increased heart rate
- Blurred vision
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Coma
- Seizures
- Slurred speech
- Hemorrhaging
- Excessive bleeding
- Dizziness
- Fainting
- Nausea
- Skin rashes
- Vomiting
- Incomplete abortion
- Death
The data and testimonials speak for themselves. Mifepristone is not, in any way, safe for women. It’s deadly.
It is impossible to go against biology and nature in such a gruesome way through the act of killing your child “safely.”
While mifepristone is not safe for women in an increasingly high number of cases, let us not forget the true victim in this whole equation.
The baby that is being starved and suffocated through the mifepristone drug is never safe.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, mifepristone is now the leading method for abortion in the United States.
We must outlaw mifepristone for the sake of women, but ultimately for the sake of the little lives that are lost every day.
