Has someone in your family turned 73 in 2025—or are you already 73 or older?
If so, you’re likely familiar with the IRS requirement to take an annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from certain retirement accounts like IRAs or 401(k)s. Missing this distribution can result in penalties.
But here’s an important opportunity: if you don’t need all (or part) of your RMD for living expenses, you can direct a portion of it tax-free to a qualified charity like the Illinois Family Institute. That means you won’t pay income tax on the portion you donate—and that tax-smart giving could help avoid being pushed into a higher bracket. Of course, please consult your CPA or tax advisor for personal guidance.
And there’s even more good news:
Right now, a group of generous supporters has issued a 2025 End-of-Year Matching Challenge. which means they will match every gift to IFI up to a total of $150,000. That means every dollar you give through December 31 is doubled upon receipt—so a $1,000 gift becomes $2,000 for the work of advancing biblical truth in Illinois.
That’s a powerful way to multiply both your tax-wise giving and your impact to strengthen families, defend religious liberty, and equip Christians to engage our culture with gospel clarity.
Will you prayerfully consider combining these opportunities?
If an RMD gift makes sense for you, directing it to IFI before year’s end could be one of the most impactful decisions you make all year.
Please DONATE ONLINE or call the IFI office
at (708) 781-9328 to support our work.
Thank you for your faithful support. May God richly bless you and your family during this Advent and Christmas season.
Sincerely,
David E. Smith
Executive Director
