Election Day: What Illinois Voters Need to Know

It’s exhausting. Our mailboxes have been stuffed with campaign literature, our phones have kept buzzing with political texts, and the airwaves have been saturated with attack ads. Most of us are more than ready for Tuesday to come—and go.

If you are voting tomorrow, please prayerfully consider what is at stake on Election Day.

Illinois voters will elect a governor, a U.S. senator, seventeen members of Congress, state legislators, and local officials. They will also decide judicial retentions and local referendum questions. The people we send to Springfield and Washington, D.C. will help shape whether Christians can confidently live out their convictions in the public square and how—or whether—government becomes more restrictive and intrusive.

The importance of this election, and Christian participation, cannot be overstated.

Likewise, the need for humble prayer at this time from the people of God cannot be overemphasized. Our state and nation need God’s mercy and protection.

If you plan to vote tomorrow, please review the IFI Voter Guide before casting your ballot. Other information for Cook County voters is available here.

There is no excuse for Christians to sit out this election—or any election, for that matter. Romans 12:21 calls us to “overcome evil with good.” Abortion, lawlessness, disorder, gender confusion, addiction, and the erosion of religious liberty and parental rights are serious moral and social evils that we cannot ignore.

Polls are open Tuesday from 6 AM to 7 PM.
