It’s disappointing to learn that the NFL continues to celebrate and ally itself with divisive left-wing ideologies. My family and I once looked forward to football season. We’d often watch games on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings. But the NFL’s embrace of radical and anti-family political agendas has alienated us once too many times.
Not only are they dishonoring our national motto, e pluribus unum (out of many, one) and the Pledge of Allegiance phrase “one nation under God” by having an artist perform a second, so-called “Black national anthem” at the Super Bowl LVIII, but the NFL will host their third “Night of Pride” event with GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) during that week. This, despite the fact that there is not a single openly LGBTQIA player in the NFL.
GLAAD is an LGBTQ media monitoring organization with an annual budget of more than $40 million. They have offices in New York City and Los Angeles. They also push the indoctrination of children with LGBTQ ideology in public schools. GLAAD’s #SpiritDay is “the world’s most visible anti-bullying movement inspiring LGBTQ youth, especially transgender and nonbinary youth to live their lives in their truth and authenticity.”
Some of the groups partnering with GLAAD as sponsors of #SpiritDay are: NBA, WNBA, NFL, Skittles, Hyundai, M&M’s, and Kirkland & Ellis, a global law firm located in Chicago.
In a recent press statement from the NFL, the league announced their continued alliance with left-wing sexual revolutionaries:
A Night of Pride with GLAAD is an evening of music, cocktails, and interview-style conversations with GLAAD, a non-profit organization focused on LGBTQ advocacy and cultural change. The NFL family and partners will gather to spotlight advances in the future of LGBTQ inclusion in professional sports as well as the NFL’s commitment to LGBTQ former and current players.
The NFL statement also highlights the fact that this event is being sponsored by Smirnoff, a brand of vodka founded in Moscow, as well as Starter and Google. Evidently, they are all committed to pushing the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) doctrine of the Left.
It is alarming to note that the NFL is also working with GLAAD to target children with their deviant sexual agenda by hosting its second annual Pride Flag Football Clinic, stating that it is:
working with a local center that serves LGBTQ youth. Attendees and their families will be celebrated and welcomed by NFL players and members of the National Gay Flag Football League.
4 WINDS* is a worldwide sports ministry that works to counter the LGBTQ sports movement. President Steve McConkey rightly points out:
Every week, we have to deal with sports being used to promote the LGBTQ agenda. People just want to watch the game without propaganda. Also, those involved in sports should have space to just play the game. Athletes can promote their causes on their own time and deal with the consequences.
In 2003, McConkey started fighting against the International Olympic Committee’s transgender policies. As the transgender movement spread to state high schools, the NCAA, NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL, McConkey fought this agenda every step of the way. In October 2023, he spoke at legislative hearings at the Wisconsin Capitol in favor of banning transgender athletes on high school and college teams. The bills passed, but Governor Tony Evers vetoed them.
And why is it that Dylan Mulvaney‘s Bud Light is now being promoted by Pro Football Hall of Famers Peyton Manning and Emmitt Smith? Is the NFL trying to salvage Bud Light’s reputation for its parent company Anheuser-Busch, which spends gobs of money on TV commercials? There are good reasons why the aftershocks of a spokesman pretending to be female continue to be felt well after the controversy exploded last year.
You may want to think twice about supporting the NFL by watching their games and buying team apparel. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, team owners, and of course, the league’s television partners do not seem to care about alienating center-right Americans. They don’t seem to care that they have tainted the game that used to provide a welcome escape from the stresses and pressures of everyday life. Their left-wing social-justice messaging is poisonous, divisive and leaves a bad aftertaste.
In the wake of the George Floyd/BLM riots and players/coaches disrespectfully kneeling during the national anthem, the NFL’s messaging has continued to affirm the erroneous idea that America is guilty of “systemic racism.”
John Hawkins, writing an article for Townhall.com, reminds us how left-wing activism has permeated the NFL, making a strong case for boycotting:
The same NFL that banned pro-cop helmet decals and stopped Titans linebacker Avery Williamson from wearing cleats that honored the victims of 9/11, supports players who refuse to stand for the Pledge. Moreover, spoiled mediocre quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s jersey became a bestseller after he held the flag in contempt…
Add to that that the NFL has invested $250 million toward “equity” and “social justice” messaging. They also released an official commercial stating “Football is gay,” which implied at the end that you’re guilty of letting young people die if you don’t affirm their homosexual identities.
Since the NFL chooses continually to inject controversial political agendas into their professional athletics contests, American families should choose to spend their Sunday afternoons in pursuit of other wholesome family activities.
As for my household, we will have nothing to do with the NFL’s agenda. Instead, we will choose to play board games, sing hymns, take long walks, play miniature golf or go bowling, fly kites, have water balloon fights, and host friends for a BBQ or potluck meal.
