On January 24, the national March for Life– “the largest human rights demonstration in the world”– will once again take place in Washington D.C.
And this year, there is a vital reason to march for life.
The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 26), a bill that would require a baby who is born after a failed abortion to receive medical care and attention, will be voted on in the United States Senate.
On January 8, U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R- SD) delivered the following remark regarding this bill on the Senate floor:
“Mr. President, senators can also expect a vote on another commonsense measure this month.
As thousands of pro-life Americans come to Washington for the 52nd Annual March for Life, we’ll take up the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
This straightforward bill simply states that a baby born alive after an attempted abortion is entitled to the same protection and medical care that any other newborn baby is entitled to.
This vote will ask Democrats to answer whether a living baby born after an attempted abortion should be provided with medical care or be left to die.
It shouldn’t be a hard question.”
Senator John Thune is absolutely correct.
Whether or not an innocent baby has a right to receive medical care and attention should not be a difficult question.
Unfortunately, it is.
The Washington Stand reported,
“The bill passed the House in January 2023 by a near-party-line vote of 220-210. Only one Democrat, Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas, voted in favor.”
This is why Illinois Family Institute is urging the people of Illinois to contact their United States Senators– urging them to protect life through voting in favor of this bill.
Once again, life and death are on the U.S. Senate floor this January, and we need your voice to be heard.

Thank you!
