Government school feedings programs fall short on the weekends.

Firehouse Chapel discovered that many students in the southern suburbs of Illinois were going home for the weekend without knowing where their next meal would come from until school started again on Monday morning.

To combat this and continue the support for students and families in their community, Firehouse Chapel started their program, Boxes of Hope.

Since starting this ministry in 2017, Boxes of Hope has provided over 15,000 meals to students in need.

“Not only have we been able to feed students since 2017 but our program has grown into helping individual student needs as well. We have been able to purchase gas cards, hygiene products and Christmas gift cards for each of our families.”

Each weekend, boxes are filled to provide food for each child in the family for the entire weekend.

“The food boxes include breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options for ALL children in the family. Our family count ranges anywhere from 1 to 8 children per family.”

Here are a few testimonies from people that Boxes of Hope has directing impacted from the perspective of social workers and teachers:

  • We were just told be a teacher than every tine this particular student receives a box he always says, “I finally have food!”
  • Our students and families cannot say thank you enough for always helping them exactly when they need it.
  • A girl, who is in desperate need, received hygiene products.
  • A family received a gas gift card so they could get to work.

These are just a few testimonies– the list goes on.

Boxes of Hope is a beautiful ministry that is taking seriously the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:34-40.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,  I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”

Prayerfully consider supporting Boxes of Hope.
