As readers may remember, in 2021 far Left activists were successful in pressuring several suburban governments to either fly the LGBTQ+ flag in June or pressure city councils to pass a “Pride” Resolution for the month of June. For three years the Arlington Heights city council has passed a resolution declaring June to be Pride Month. These resolutions have been signed by Mayor Tom Hayes who is a member in good standing of The Orchard Evangelical Free Church.

You can read the 2023 proclamation here.

The following resolution refutes the sinful embrace of sexual immorality:

Faithful Churches in the Northwest Suburbs Proclamation
In Recognition of LGBTQ+ Pride Month by Arlington Heights, Palatine, and Other Suburbs

WHEREAS, God’s Word teaches that all men and women enter the world as sinners and children of wrath

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.” (Ps. 51:5)

“among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.” (Eph. 2:3); and

WHEREAS, God’s Word highlights in a specific way the abhorrence of any same-sex sexual activity

“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.” (Lev. 18:22)

“For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.” (Rom. 1:26-27); and

WHEREAS, early American history was shaped profoundly by God’s Word and the principles of Common Law, which declared same-sex sexual activity to be a grievous offense and subject to penalty including death; and

WHEREAS, the connection of Pride Month with the Stonewall Uprising in New York City, which was an attack on police officers and law enforcement, ignores the perversion of same-sex activity and how many of the supposed heroes of the gay rights movement were engaged in some of the most gruesome acts towards children; and

WHEREAS, Scripture clearly states that blessing comes when a nation and city seek to obey God’s truth, and that judgment is promised in the rejection of God’s truth

Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.” (Prov. 14:34); and

WHEREAS, the only hope for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and plus people is that they confess their sin and rebellion before a holy God and find forgiveness in the blood of Jesus Christ

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Cor. 6:9–11); and

WHEREAS, all people are to be treated with honesty and according to the truth.

NOW, THEREFORE, We, pastors and churches seeking to be faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ and the message of salvation found in Christ alone, strongly condemn the resolution passed by the Arlington Heights Village Board of Trustees and signed by Mayor Tom Hayes. We call for the repentance of all the Trustees and the Mayor who conceived and signed this resolution. We will pray for them as Scripture calls on us to do (1 Tim. 2:1-3), but we must condemn this misguided and dangerous resolution.

The Christian Emergency League hosted a special panel discussion of Chicago area pastors to address the agenda of sexual chaos and confusion in our culture and in our churches. The event took place at the Church of Christian Liberty in Arlington Heights on Friday, June 30, 2023. Watch the video HERE on YouTube.
