This week, we honor the birth of our great nation—a land where self-government, individual liberty, and God-given rights have long been cherished. We thank the Lord for the blessing of living in a country founded on the principles of freedom and personal responsibility. As fireworks light the sky, parades march through our streets, and families gather for backyard cookouts, we celebrate the stars and stripes and the enduring values that have made America a beacon of hope around the world.
Though America remains the greatest nation on earth and one we should be proud of, many patriots share growing concerns about the direction we’re headed. Our most fundamental freedoms—religious liberty and free speech—are being chipped away by activist judges and overreaching officials who disregard the U.S. Constitution. Traditional Christian values are openly mocked and marginalized, while far too often the Church stands silent or sidelines itself from the cultural battle. Now more than ever, we must pray, speak the truth in love, and courageously defend the moral foundation that made this country strong.
This week marks 249 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence—an extraordinary moment in history when our Founding Fathers and countless patriots pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to secure liberty from the tyranny of the crown. Americans of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds stood united in the pursuit of freedom. Today, that legacy lives on through the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces, who continue to defend our liberties both at home and on battlefields around the world. We owe these heroes—and the first responders serving in our communities—our deepest gratitude.
Our nation faces grave challenges that demand our attention. At both the state and federal levels, government is plagued by bloated bureaucracy, reckless spending, and a troubling lack of accountability. Meanwhile, the Left continues its assault on biological reality, the sanctity of life, and our moral foundations rooted in Scripture. Yet we must not despair. Inspired by the courage and conviction of our Founders, we must rise to the challenge with unwavering faith and resolve.
Through prayer and steadfast effort—and with God’s help—we can overcome evil with good. We can be the salt and light we are called to be, shining truth into a darkened world. (Matthew 5:13-16) In doing so, we can help restore a government that truly reflects “of the people, by the people, and for the people,” honoring both God’s truth and our shared heritage.
Happy Independence Day—and may God bless America!
