Illinois Bureaucrats Are Disqualified to Oversee Homeschoolers

In various media interviews, State Representative Terra Costa Howard (D-Lombard) has repeatedly claimed that there are no regulations in Illinois for homeschoolers. This is not true. Moreover, she has repeatedly suggested that state lawmakers “have to do something to make sure that kids are receiving an education,” yet year after year public school systems miss the academic mark for a majority of their students.

Best High Schools in Illinois?!

On April 18, 2023, WGN in Chicago reported on the 30 best high schools in Illinois, so the Good Soil Good Seed Foundation (GS2) looked into how Illinois students scored on standardized tests.  We specifically wanted to know how many students were at grade-level proficiency in two core subject areas -- reading and math.
