As you may know, the Springfield LGBTQIA+ Pride Fest is scheduled for May 17, 2025. The number of these types of events are growing throughout the state, including Decatur, Alton, Belleville, Peoria, Champaign/Urbana, Olney and Salem.
The effort to normalize sexual immorality, perversion and gender confusion isn’t slowing down or going away any time soon. The radical Left continues to flaunt its perversion and has expanded into smaller conservative communities. Many are asking what can be done to defend their communities.
For the past six years, IFI has worked with local Christian activists in Springfield to post a billboard during the months of May and June with a prominent message: “The Rainbow Belongs to God” with a link to gone2far.net. During this campaign, many of us pray that God will convict viewers of the truth and turn hearts and minds back toward Him and away from worldliness.
Tens of thousands of people have seen this sign, and hopefully, a good percentage of people looked up the verses that are prominently printed on the billboard: Genesis 9:13-15 and 2 Peter 3:3-7.
Now we are being told that the wear and tear of the vinyl has reached its end, and we will need to re-create a new vinyl if we want to continue to post this important biblical message.
We need to raise a minimum of $1,500 to continue these efforts in our Capitol City. If 30 people would donate $50 or more to re-initiate this billboard campaign, we’d be good to go!
Can you help with a tax-deductible donation to this campaign?
We’ve come a long way since the beginning of the sexual revolution of the 1960s in which Alfred Kinsey outrageously claimed that sexual immorality of all ages was good for society. His work to push godless ideologies implying that morality was relative and socially constructed rather than absolute. These lies have devastated our culture.
Hugh Hefner helped by promoting pornography as harmless fun for so-called “sophisticated” men which also loosened social norms while objectifying women.
Then came the movement to accept homosexuality, and the push for tolerance… which then morphed into acceptance, and now celebration. The demand for civil unions was a steppingstone for marriage redefinition, which led to “special rights” legislation.
Now we have wicked gender ideology that has ensnared approximately 1.6 million young people aged 13 and older in the U.S. who now identify as transgender.
If that isn’t bad enough, according to a 2022 Gallup report, 19.7% of Generation Z self-identifies with the LGBT community. That is almost 1 in 5.
We cannot remain silent. Silence creates a vacuum which is filled too often with the lowest common denominator. But how much lower can we go?
Consider this exhortation from our nation’s first president:
“It should be the highest ambition of every American to extend his views beyond himself, and to bear in mind that his conduct will not only affect himself, his country, and his immediate posterity; but that its influence may be co-extensive with the world, and stamp political happiness or misery on ages yet unborn.”
~George Washington
Civic engagement is an essential part of the Christian life and witness. If we neglect our civic responsibilities, our freedoms, including our civil right to shed the Light of Christ in our communities and throughout our nation, society will be destroyed and the light of our Christian witness will grow dim.
Would you please consider helping us continue our billboard campaign in Springfield this year and the years to come? (And yes, we’d love to expand this to every city or town that hosts a Pride Fest, as funds allow.)
