On September 29th, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) introduced a bill aimed at preventing states and child welfare agencies from removing children from parents who refuse to participate in their child’s gender delusions.
It provides parents with a civil cause of action when they have been targeted by child welfare agencies.
In the “Yaeli Martinez Child Protection Act,” part of the text reads:
“Parents have the fundamental right under the Constitution of the United States to direct the care, upbringing, education, and welfare of their children, including raising, treating, caring for, and referring to a child in a manner consistent with the child’s sex.
Parents have the fundamental right to make health care decisions for the purpose of protecting their child’s bodily integrity, development, and emotional and mental health.
Parents have a right under the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States to direct the religious upbringing of their children, including to inculcate the belief that all humans are created male or female and to raise their child as the child’s sex in accordance with their religious beliefs.
No child should be removed from his or her family by the State, or denied foster or adoptive placement, for the purpose of subjecting the child to social, medical, or surgical sex-rejecting interventions by the State.
Raising a child according to his or her sex is not abuse.”
Parents across the country have suffered the consequences of being labeled as “child abusers” simply because they have refused to participate in the illusion and delusion of their child being led to believe they are “transgender.”
The bill’s namesake, Yaeli Martinez, is one of these tragic cases of the devastating consequences of the State assuming the role of the parent. And not only this – but affirming harmful ideas such as a “transgender” identity and the lie that one can change their sex.
Tragically, on September 4, 2019, Yaeli Martinez took her own life. Years earlier, Yaeli had started identifying as a male. When Yaeli’s mother refused to participate in Yaeli’s delusion, her school psychologist recommended that Yaeli live apart from her mother.
Shortly thereafter, Yaeli’s mother lost custody of her daughter to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. Yaeli’s mother recounted to The Daily Signal,
“The logic of the Department of Children and Family Services was that ‘if we keep [Yaeli] out of your home, she [will] have more chance to survive,’ Martinez recalled. ‘She’s not going to try to commit suicide.’”
The heartbreaking reality is that affirming someone’s transgender identity does not lead to fewer suicides and greater chances of happiness. In fact, it has the opposite effect.
In a statement to The Daily Signal, Senator Schmitt commented,
“The Left’s radical gender ideology is harming children with irreversible treatments and procedures, but in blue states, parents are being punished, and sometimes even separated from their children, for protecting their kids from this permanent damage…
It is sickening that a state would impose ideological child-welfare policies to tear apart a family… Parents know what’s best for their own families, and we need to defend their rights to protect their children.”
This bill is a necessity for our country, especially in notoriously radical blue states.
