On September 30th, the FDA approved Evita Solution’s generic version of the abortion drug, mifepristone– a drug designed to end preborn life for up to 10 weeks gestation.
Evita Solutions’ self-described mission is to make abortion normal:
“… we seek to destigmatize abortion care…”.
In addition to this, Evita Solutions outright lies about the safety of the abortion drug for women:
“Medical abortion with mifepristone is an effective, safe way to terminate early pregnancy.”
Statistics reveal the exact opposite.
The Alliance Defending Freedom notes a new study revealing that 1 in 10 abortion drug users suffer serious medical complications.
“The EPPC conducted what is called the ‘largest-ever study of the abortion pill’ by reviewing 865,727 prescriptions for mifepristone abortions from 2017 to 2023. It gathered data for the study from a health insurance claim database.
The study found that 10.3 percent of women who took mifepristone experienced serious complications– approximately 22 times more than the findings of the FDA-cited study.
According to the study, 3.31 percent of women suffered hemorrhaging, 1.34 percent suffered serious infections, and 0.1 percent suffered sepsis. Nearly 5 percent of women who used mifepristone for abortion needed ER visits, and 2.84 percent needed surgery to complete the abortion they had started chemically.”
In no way is the abortion drug safe for women.
We as pro-life, conservative Christians must push back against the FDA’s reckless decision to approve this drug.
On October 3rd, Live Action along with a coalition of 25 other pro-life groups issued a letter to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary urging them to seek a reversal of this decision.
Not only is the allowance of the abortion drug directly putting babies lives and women’s health in jeopardy, but there are also very real concerns regarding how this drug is affecting everyday Americans.
U.S. Senator James Lankford and Representative Josh Brecheen has recently urged the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to investigate the public health risks of the abortion drug and its chemical byproducts that could be contaminating our water supply.
“Federal regulators are rightfully eager to study the health effects of many chemicals in our water and septic systems, but they haven’t examined the environmental and public health risks of chemical abortion drugs like mifepristone in those same systems…
Scientific research on the health effects of water sources where there are trace amounts of a chemical that is designed to end the life of a child in the womb should not be controversial.”
