LaSalle County’s anti-Sharia resolution misses the mark. We need enforceable laws that uphold the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions and protect everyone’s rights to due process and equal protection from foreign or religious tribunals.

Federal Bill Would Bar Sharia and Other Foreign Laws That Undermine the U.S. Constitution

A new bill from U.S. Representative Keith Self (R-TX) would prohibit federal courts from enforcing foreign legal systems—including Sharia—that conflict with constitutional protections. Anything less invites two-tiered justice and weakens America’s constitutional order.
