By Kathy Valente   |   05.01.23
In three weeks our state lawmakers will adjourn, if they follow their published schedule to end session on May 19, 2023. Our lobbyist strongly feels that a flood of phone calls into Springfield offices could be enough to stop efforts to pass these egregious bills.

By Kathy Valente   |   04.22.23
Planned Parenthood and those in the legislature that do their bidding aren't satisfied with abortions up to birth, paying for them with your tax dollars, inviting women from other states, and protecting child molesters by permitting young girls to obtain abortions without their parent's knowledge. They have now placed pregnancy care centers directly in their cross hairs.

By Kathy Valente   |   03.17.23
interesting discussion between Dan Proft (Chicago's Morning Answer AM 560) and State Representative LaShawn Ford (D-Chicago) about his parental bullying bill, HB 29. The bill’s synopsis states that a parent commits “parental bullying” “when he or she knowingly and with the intent to discipline, embarrass, or alter the behavior of the minor, transmits any verbal or visual message that the parent or legal guardian reasonably believes would coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to the minor.”

By Kathy Valente   |   03.16.23
Three terrible bills have passed out of committee and will be heard on the full House or Senate floor any day. Calls into their Springfield offices would be the ideal way to give them pause before they cast their votes.

By Kathy Valente   |   03.13.23
The deadline for bills to get a committee hearing was last Friday, March 10th. Unfortunately, several have had their deadline extended to March 24th. The danger is that some of these are the worse bills and have been given a second chance to be passed.

The assault on families in the Land of Lincoln has been put on fast track as these all-out legislative attacks on kids, parents, families, and Christian values get committee hearings this week. Once passed out of committee, the bill(s) will go to the Illinois House Floor and, if passed, will then go through the same process in the Illinois Senate.

The lame-duck session is currently underway in the Illinois General Assembly prior to the new session beginning on January 11th. One would think there isn’t anything more that could be done to further expand abortion in Illinois. Unfortunately, one would...
Pot Use Rises Among Children
By Kathy Valente   |   12.14.22
Gov. JB Pritzker continues to make sure Illinois has more than its share of pot dispensaries. And as Illinois Family Institute warned repeatedly that what was happening in Colorado would also happen here, there are consequences. Dire consequences.

Marijuana use among adolescents has now surpassed alcohol use. A 20-year study shows a 245 percent increase in marijuana use by children aged 6-18 since 2000, while alcohol use has steadily declined.

Kathy Valente

Kathy joined the IFI team as our Director of Operations in 2008. Previously, Kathy was the state director for Concerned Women for America for 4 years. But even before that, Kathy and Dave worked together as volunteer activists battling pornography and obscenity in the public square.

Kathy has consistently taken a stand for traditional Judeo-Christian values and has worked tirelessly to foster a wholesome environment for family living, advocating for high community standards.

Kathy recognizes that sexual immorality, pornography, obscenity, promiscuity, state sanctioned abortion and gambling threaten the moral fabric of our society. The well being of our communities, the strength of our families, and the hearts, minds, lives and souls of our children are at risk when traditional values and high community standards are abandoned.

Kathy was married to her late husband for over 31 years, is the mother of three adult children, grandmother of four and great grandmother of three.
