In 2025, “Italian Brainrot” broke the internet. Like me, you are probably unaware of its existence and you are not alone in that. You would be part of the 80% of parents who have neither heard of it nor the harms it’s doing to millions of young kids. Their kids.
“Italian Brainrot” is an AI-generated show that mixes objects with animals. For example, a dancing ballerina will have the head of a cappuccino.
Sounds innocent and creative? Well, the truth may shock you.
These characters are highly addictive because of the animation style and the memorable names they are given. For example, Bombardino Crocodilo has the body of a bomber plane and the head of an alligator. These characters normalize violent and disturbing activities—both subtly and overtly.
In some episodes, Bombardino Crocodilo bombs and kills people, including children, as part of its character.
As mentioned earlier, the animation style—the chaotic pacing, bright flashing images, nonsensical imagery, and rapid loops—can leave children spellbound by this form of entertainment. It can lead to meltdowns when screens are turned off and make it difficult for children to calm down afterward.
In addition, this animation style can obscure aggressive, violent, and crude themes. Bombardino Crocodilo, for example, is a popular character that normalizes bombing and killing people.
Keep in mind that kids as young as 3 are soaking this up.
Some episodes contain profanity, vulgarity, and aggressive noises that inevitably affect the brains and nervous systems of young children. Catchy songs hide disturbing dark references and more.
Themes such as sword attacks, political commentary on Palestine, and traditional cultural references like Ramadan drumbeats are all subtly woven into the stories.
Immediately upon opening an episode, you are often met with loud noises, angry and loud characters, bright colors, fast paced and fear-inducing content.
As an adult watching part of an episode, I came away feeling anxious and emotionally disturbed. I can’t imagine a little girl or boy watching content like this regularly unsupervised.
Parents, you are the guardians of your homes and the protectors of your children’s hearts and minds. You must be aware of what your children, their friends, and other neighborhood children are watching and being influenced by. Scripture warns us in 1 Corinthians 15:33, “Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” This warning also applies to the entertainment and influences we allow into our homes.
The antidote is to spend more time in God’s Word and fill our homes with Christian programming, worship music, biblical themes, and other resources that help us focus on what Scripture commands:
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” ~Philippians 4:8
My home will never be a place where content like this is allowed or entertained, and I hope you feel the same.
