The IFI Annual Banquet is coming up in just a few weeks.
This year’s keynote speaker, as you may have already seen, is Riley (Gaines) Barker – a 12-time All-American swimmer, 2-time Olympic Trail Qualifier, and 5-time SEC Champion.
Another accolade to add to this impressive career is the most important: wife and mother.
In a recent Conservateur piece before her daughter was born, Riley commented,
“Motherhood will be the most fulfilling chapter of our lives yet. It’s my purpose. It’s my greatest calling.
Baby in tow– we’ll save America.”
Our culture is starved of traditional, biblical values. Just look at recent research findings.
McKinsey Health Institute found that Gen Z women (aged 13-28) are almost twice as likely to report poor mental health than their male counterparts (21% versus 13%).
The Institute for Family Studies shared reports that married women with children are far more likely to report being “very happy” as opposed to unmarried women without children (21% versus 10%).
Studies upon studies have shown that what our culture desperately needs is not more money, more fame, or more success.
That in fact, the secret to living a healthy, fulfilling life is found in God’s Word and the way in which He ordered the world.
Getting married, having kids, and loving the Lord are what brings the most happiness and the deepest fulfillment.
As a new mom, I can 100% vouch for this. As much as I love my job, my family and my faith are what brings me the most satisfaction.
Riley is a beautiful example of what it means to live biblically and counter-culturally in a world that preaches that career and success are the most important things.
You will be so blessed to hear from Riley as she challenges her audience to live counter-culturally, but most importantly– to live for Christ.
