SUMMARY:Marijuana in Your Community - Oak Lawn
DESCRIPTION:The marijuana industry and their allies are quick to point out the reasons recreational marijuana use should be legal in Illinois. Many of these proponents stand to make millions of dollars in profit from promoting what historically has been seen as a destructive vice. \nThey promise that legalization will (1) eliminate minority arrests\, (2) free up law enforcement\, (3) reduce traffic fatalities\, (4) decrease use among youth\, (5) generate tax revenue\, (6) reduce violent crime\, (7) and reduce drug cartel trafficking. \nColorado was the first state to legalize high potency marijuana for recreational use in 2013 and is the nation’s test experiment. \nTwo Colorado experts will share what their state is like in the 6-year aftermath of legalization. \nWHEN:  Thursday\, April 4\, 2019 \nTIME:  6:30 PM – 8:00 PM \nWHERE:  St. Linus Church\, Cardiff Center\n                    10331 Linus Lane  \n                    Oak Lawn\, IL \nThis event is open to the Public. \nSpeakers: \nJo McGuire is the Chairman of the Board for the National Drug and Alcohol Screening Association and is a Certified Professional Collector and Trainer (CPCT) and a Certified Designated Employee Representative Trainer (CDERT) who consults and trains professionals overseeing Safety Sensitive Employees in the compliance of federal DOT guidelines for drug and alcohol screening programs. Jo conducts seminars\, trainings\, conference workshops and leadership retreats for the public\, private and non-profit sector. Jo works closely with national health experts to educate state and federal policy makers on the importance of public health\, pertaining to drug and alcohol testing practices. \nDr. Karen Randall\, MD.\, is an Emergency Room Physician in the 3rd busiest Emergency Department in Colorado. Her training is in emergency medicine\, pediatrics and family practice. She holds a certificate in Cannabis Science and Medicine from the University of Vermont. She serves on the Board of Directors for SCEMA and VP of case management for SCEMA and has spoken nationally and internationally. \nCLICK HERE  for a bulletin insert.
