Sanctity of Life

We wholeheartedly support the right to life from conception until natural death, seeking legislative and judicial protection of that right against those who perform abortions.

We oppose Roe v. Wade and believe it erred in granting a “privacy right” to abortion that tragically overrode the right of unborn children to live, leading to the needless deaths of millions of innocent babies in the womb. We also oppose the use of public funds for abortion or public funding of organizations that advocate it.

We renew our commitment to supporting women face with untimely pregnancies.

Includes issues such as abstinence, bio-ethics, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research and parental consent. Illinois “sanctity of life” issues address by IFI include:

  • Illinois Parental Notification Bill
  • Illinois Partial Birth Abortion Legislation
  • Illinois Newborn Protection Act
  • Abortion / Breast Cancer Link
  • Planned Parenthood Distribution of “Prom Survival Kits”
  • Illinois Born Alive Protection Act
  • Chicago Fertility Clinic’s Embryo Sex Selection Option

Standing for Life

It is true that taking popular positions may win votes and advance people or organizations into positions of power, but as we review our heritage or the history of any great nation, we will note that real leadership was willing to pay the price, whether of rejection or disdain in order to do the principled thing. If President Abraham Lincoln had taken the easy road, it may be that slavery would still exist today. Leaders who truly impact their nation for good make the hard, sometimes unpopular decisions simply because they are right.

How can we one day stand before our Creator having ignored the sanctioned abortion of millions of unborn children He created and gave as gifts to us? How can we turn our backs on these helpless humans snuggled in their mother’s wombs, no matter how small, who are …by no choice of their own, in order to purchase popularity with unprincipled and mercenary forces?

America did not become great by abandoning its most vulnerable members or by advocating a life of mere convenience. America became great by addressing, sometimes unwillingly, but yet finally, its faults and however stumbling its conduct, overcoming those faults. In the tradition of Lincoln, we must defend the right to life as abolitionists defended the life of the slaves and was willing to go to war over slavery’s continuance. We must not fail these little ones, who like the slave, have no real voice of their own, but must borrow our’s.

Political parties, politicians, and policy makers who abandon principle to gain power are unwise, and we can see where that philosophy has gotten us over the last several years.

IFI will stand firmly and unequivocally in defense of those Truths which we all instinctively know to be foundation to life, liberty and family.
