A Dad's Delight


Many of you still remember that fall day back in 1994 when six small children were killed in a fiery accident on I-94 just over the border in Wisconsin. Pastor Scott and Janet Willis and their six youngest children were traveling in their minivan when a chunk of metal in the middle of the highway pierced the gas tank. As you may remember, the fire claimed the lives of all six children in the minivan. Ben was 13. Joe was 11. Sam was 9. Hank was 7. Elizabeth was 3. Peter was 6 weeks old.

Knowing Scott and Janet Willis personally, and as a father myself, I fully appreciate the fact that they love to recall special times and events they had experienced with their children. So it makes sense that Janet would put together a children's book about one of their favorite stories -- this one about their son Hank.

Janet not only authored A Dad's Delight, but she also illustrated it with life-like paintings of her husband Scott and the children.

The book is about a broken window, a father's mercy and a little boy who loved baseball.

It's about the reality of God's forgiveness.

Hank is a boy after Dad's own heart, following Dad's lead, loving baseball. When Hank gets himself in "big trouble," Dad demonstrates a bigger love, a God-like love. A simple true -- life story, "A Dad's Delight" illustrates a profound truth about the character of God.
